A Journey Like No Other
An immersion into the heart and soul of our pioneering spirit; a cinematic journey along the Explorer’s Way.
Learn of the first expedition of John McDouall Stuart in 1858, wonder at the Afghan cameliers who opened up the outback, and smile at the stories of the modern day opal miners of Coober Pedy who are fiercely passionate and proud of their underground lifestyle and community.
Filmed over 12 months, the show captures the vast contrasts in the landscape from its desolate beauty to its unexpected moments of lushness.
World Class Attraction
The Big Winch 360 Cinema Experience has been created by Australia’s top experience designers tasked to create a unique, world class, attraction that will become the must-see experience in the outback.
Working with the Carter Family, The Big Winch is now home to Australia’s only permanent, genuine, 360º cinema experience.
Vision and sound surrounds the audience in a show that can only be found here in Coober Pedy.
